The Wishlist

1. Cellphone Repair. I accidentally threw my phone last week and I somehow broke the LCD and touch screen. Gad, the repairman even had it reset. My files. ;_;
2. LP-E10 Charger. I dunno but somehow I lost mine... also, it's fudging expensive.
3. Tripod. FINAL PRODUCTION IS COMING SO I NEED THIS BECAUSE MY HANDS ARE ALL SWEATY A.K.A. TOO INDIE FOR MY LIFE.
4. Headphones. Just because. Besides, I broke my earphones just yesterday.
5. Microphone. SO I WOULDN'T RESORT TO SILENT FILMS GODDAMIT
6. External Hard Drive. Pretty much an essential part of my Film life. My laptop just can't handle all the movies we download/trade every week. D:

So guys if you're kind enough you can totally get me any of this. Gah, I'm kidding lol.

Ngayon ko lang nararamdaman yung 'Grabe ang gastos ng course mo.'

Find of The Week: PINDIPPY

PinDippy is basically a web series of sorts created by the quirky muse of Jessie Cave, which we probably know for being Ron Weasley's overly attached girlfriend Lavender Brown.

In The Mood For Love (5/5)

In The Mood For Love takes place in a tiny apartment in Hong Kong during the 60s, where two neighbors spend so much time in close proximity that it's no wonder their lives eventually crossed. Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung's characters suspect that their respective spouses are having an affair, and started to have an unlikely friendship. They meet for quiet meals and shy discussions, passing time together as it dawns upon them that maybe they were destined for each other.

Maybe In Another Universe, I Deserve You

I've been hanging around Thought Catalog for quite some time now. The articles there are great; some are funny, some are profound and some just hit a little too close to home. This is one of my favorite articles, and it kind of inspired me to write.
What if, in another universe, I deserve you?
Hear me out. There’s this philosopher from the 1890s named William James, and he coined this theory about “the multiverse” which suggests that a hypothetical set of multiple universes comprises everything that can possibly exist simultaneously.
Are you following? The entirety of space, time, matter and energy is all happening at once in different timelines: It’s the idea of parallel universes. Right? So okay, let’s presume the multiverse is real.
Well then, maybe somewhere in those infinite universes is one, or several, where I deserve you.
Maybe there’s a universe out there — happening now — where we end up together and when I close my eyes at night, I’m not dreaming the way a normal person would. Instead I’m seeing flashes of our lives in the multiverse. They’re not simple dreams because I miss you, right? They’re scientific, anachronistic visions.
For instance:
In this universe, I don’t want a family, but maybe in another, I’m more of the type to settle down. Maybe there’s a universe where you hold my hand while I give birth to our daughter in a white hospital room with pink flowers and fuzzy teddy bears on the window sill. Where we take family vacations and pose for dorky pictures in our neon bathing suits on the sands of a Florida beach. Where we curl up to watch a cheesy movie at the end of a long day in our big, green, suburban house once the kids have fallen asleep.
Maybe there’s a universe where we are middle-aged and taking our child to college and bickering over where to put her dresser or what posters she should hang up. Where you kiss her on the forehead ‘goodbye’ and we drive home in contented, proud silence, your fingers grazing my knuckles, our wedding rings glistening. Where we both have gray hair and we laugh and smile and hug and drink lemonade on the porch.
Maybe there’s a universe where that’s the life I want. Where I don’t second guess everything and I’m not afraid of commitment and of the future and of love. Maybe there’s a universe without all the noise in my head and the pride that makes me so fiercely independent and the coldness in my heart that I can turn on and off like a security fence.
Maybe there’s a universe where I’m the right person for you. Where I adore every nice thing you did for me without starting to resent you. A universe where you actually end up with someone who appreciates you. Where no one becomes a doormat. Where both of us can shed our baggage and curiosity and issues. A universe where we’re happy — without wondering if that happiness is some messed-up Jenga game ready to topple at the slightest quiver. A universe where we’re comfortable and sure, and we have cats.
Maybe there’s a universe where we fall asleep next to each other every night like spoons, like two innocent bunnies — my face buried in your neck, hugging your warmth — and we both don’t want anything or anybody else. Where we don’t want more, we just want each other.
Maybe there’s a universe where I don’t covet so much all the time and where I’m content and where I don’t wonder about picking up and moving to Japan without saying anything to anyone and where at this very juncture, I can just know I’ll always want to come home and cook dinner with you.
If you think of it all this way, then it’s like neither of us did anything wrong.
You just found me in the wrong universe. That’s all. This is, as they say, the darkest timeline. Everywhere else, nay, “everywhen” else — us in the Civil War, us in Ancient Egypt, us in the swinging ’60s — we are happy.
If this theory holds, well, by the law of averages, there had to be oneuniverse — just this one — where we don’t end up together. Here and now just happens to be it. If you think of it this way, nothing is our fault.
So see, that explains everything. We’re not together anymore because of the multiverse.
Well, isn’t that comforting?
If you’re sad, do like I do and just think of the other ‘verses. The ones where I believe in love and where I don’t hate myself and where I never feel the need to kamikaze relationships. A universe where we can have nice things. It’s helpful, right?
Because you could have loved me forever. And maybe in another universe, I let you.

Film Reviews

People who are close to me know that I really love watching movies. Since I'm also required to watch a new movie every week in one of my classes, I decided to just post my reviews and reactions here as well as recommend something new for you. Film 102 is history of Philippine Cinema so expect a lot of Tagalog movies here! And I'm obsessed with anything Nolan and French New Wave so I'm apologizing in advanced for future incessant gushing.

My first three reviews will be of:

1. The Prestige by Christopher Nolan
2. Batch '81 by Mike de Leon
3. Bicycle Thieves by Vittorio de Sica

Probably gonna post the first one during the week-end. I have a Spanish 10 long exam tomorrow and I'm doing my best to not feed the procrastinating troll in me. Chos lang.

Isolation

This is my first exercise for my Narrative Film class. We were asked to film 7 random clips and just put them together. A concrete narrative was not really necessary because my prof just wanted to see how we handle our cameras.

I had a hard time filming because I couldn't help but think of narratives as I walk around the campus. What should I film? Who or what are my subjects? So I just decided to wander around during my 5 hour free time and just shoot really random things. I called it isolation because my 1st week blues translated to my clips. The disconnection was quite apparent (long shots of people's backs, the 'fly on the wall' feel, and the absence of eyes).

It's soooo random and I'm not impressed with my camerawork here (SOBRANG PASMADO KO LANG SHET). I need improvement and probably should buy a tripod soon.

P.S. I'll probably post all my ~prods~ here. Hope you don't get sick of them.

Polaroid

I've always been a fan of instant cameras. My lola used to have one back when I was young and I remember being so fascinated whenever a picture suddenly slides out of her camera. It's magic for me... probably until now. So I got really excited when she gave me my own polaroid. Nothing fancy tho, just an Instax Mini. I think it's going to be pretty convenient because it's really handy and light.

Also, I took photos of myself. As always. I'm always shy to ask someone to take a picture of me and I've always been so comfortable alone so I guess that explains my... vanity? lmao

Favorite place

Funny how I haven't blogged about my new apartment and I already proceeded to making a post about my study corner. By the way, this is my new blog (hi). I decided to delete my old and emo blogger and make a new one. I will reserve my tumblr exclusively for my artworks and photographs (and a little bit of reblogs and   gratuitous posts about myself).

Anyway, since I just moved from Katipunan to Krus Na Ligas (a much nearer place to my school), I have all the liberty to buy new stuff and revamp my study corner. Isn't that awesome? I think it's awesome. I actually feel like I'm all ~independent~ now that I'm the one buying my dorm stuff and paying for my broadband.

(L-R: my unnamed pink iPod, a nice little shelf for my files, a utility baby drawer, a box of tissue, and a container full of apples)

Since I just celebrated my 18th birthday, my dad decided to give me a new laptop as a gift.I felt ecstatic when I received it and it became such a great help to my film needs. I reckon I will be editing and rendering a lot of videos for the rest of the year so I'm really thankful that my laptop (which I affectionately call Abed) can handle all the work.

I bought a laptop skin from Punchdrunk Panda but it was a size bigger so I just decided to cut the lower portion for design.

This is probably one of my favorite splurges ever. I've always been a fan of monster doodles by Rob Cham so I immediately bought this one for Abed. Oh, and it's on sale too!

My favorite things!

When I have nothing to do, I just read books or watch DVD. Since I'm too lazy to bring all of my books in my dorm, I decided to just bring One Day and The Little Prince with me. Reading One Day always makes me wanna cry and laugh at the same time. It's actually one of my favorite novels because it was not sappy and the humor was just spontaneous. The Little Prince is also one of my faves ever since I first read it (which was 5 years ago). It's endearing and the moment the prince vanished always make me cry inside. Haha.

One of my New Academic Year's Resolution (I made this up) is to save at least 500 every week. Since I'm paying for my broadband connection in my dorm, I'm obligated to save every month. I also think saving could help me lose some of my weight. My weekly allowance is always spent in treating my friends or drinking milk tea so I guess saving could help me control my cravings.

My cute little study corner is actually not really helping me to study early because internet always gets in the way. Baaaah. Anyways, even though my new apartment isn't as lavish as my previous one, I feel more comfortable moving around because I live here alone and I can do anything I wanna do without embarrassing myself. Teeeheee.
